Siaka Diabaté was born into a griot family in Orodara, Burkina Faso. He learned to play the balafon with his father. His first scenes were in the fields and at traditional ceremonies.
In 2008, Siaka moved to Ouagadougou. He began working at the Village Artisanal, where he makes traditional instruments. There he met other musicians and discovered new musical genres and instruments. It was the flute that caught his attention, and he played it every day to perfect his skills. The kora became his nightly companion. Diabate is always in demand on the Burkina Faso scene, but he also performs in Ottawa and Montreal, having moved to Canada in 2022.
