Sediments, by Luisa Ji, is a sonic journey exploring the interconnectedness of the "Anthropocene", ecology and geological time. Through the metaphor of multi-species cooperation, the project invites listeners to plunge into the sediment layers of a body of water, experiencing stories etched into the sedimentary mud and tales of collaboration spanning a deep geological time scale.
Abstract soundscapes translate the activities of life and the processes of deposition, illustrating the complex dance between what is etched into sediment and what is removed. This project draws its inspiration from the core extracted from Lake Crawford, whose sedimentary layers underline humanity's impact on the Earth's surface and the profound changes of the Anthropocene era.
